School Committees

VAIS and its neighboring school, New Century Charter, are fortunate to be supported by the volunteer efforts of various school committees. These committees consist of both staff and parent members involved in increasing our school's impact, supporting our wonderful teachers and staff, and providing fun and educational events for our students and the community. Current committees include: 

Chairs: Joanne Mueller, Amy Kennedy

The FUNdraising Committee is in charge of raising funds for the charter school materials such as Chinese curriculum, special events, extra materials for teachers, etc. We achieve this through a variety of events, direct fundraisers, and community events. 

Chairs: Paige Jany, Kelly Gibson

This committee focuses on ways to create sustainable student enrollment and retention, including social media plans, outreach and marketing, and a 4K ambassador list.

Chair: Grace Flores

The purpose of this committee is to work together as a parent community to foster inclusive and kind behavior at school, and to be proactive to help students engage with one another in positive ways. The committee also will explore ways to work with NCS parents to create and sustain a sense of community between the two schools. 

Chair: Jennifer Tzeng

This committee offers a wide variety of ways for families and community members to engage at VAIS including volunteer opportunities, school parties/events, student/family social activities, social media challenges, and a mentorship program for new families.

Chair: Evan Henderson

This committee works with the VAIS Director to plan and manage the annual school budget.
